Te Wai Pounamu
Haere mai to Te Wai Pounnamu, the South Island of New Zealand!
After arriving in the ferry terminal in Picton, I didn't take the Kiwi bus to Abel Tasman/Kaiteriteri Beach directly, but took the Intercity bus to Bleinheim, opposite direction of Kiwi. My bus was 60min late in total... =.=
Having changed my plans, I arrived on the South Island on 1st of March instead mid of April like my original plan!

In Blenheim I got a ride to my hostel from my friend Kalah and
we met again in the evening^^ my hostel was an working hostel and very new to backpacking,
and the owner Heather was really nice! A twin room, free laundry, few people for the
price what you normally get a 10 bed dorm for.
In the evening Kalah and I had a wee ride on her horses
around the vinyards! She gave me her main horse Irish (he’s not irish xD) to
ride, and we had a lot of fun despite Irish spooking on everything and trying
to get me off a few times. I got quite a good seat here, not the one always falling off anymore :D I also saw my first fantail on this ride, my new favourite species of birds! So cute and pretty and fluffy and tiny <3
Afterwards we met a friend of Kalah and did the rest of
their shopping for their weekend together. Funny enough, I escaped from
Wellington because of the Eminem concert and they both flew over from the South
Island to Wellington for it!!
The next day started chaotic, I really needed to go into
city centre of Blenheim, and that was 20min by foot each way. And half an hour
walk to my bus station. I dawdled in the morning, when I got out at 7am to look
after my washing it was freezing cold outside, and the sun just rised. It was
4°!!! in march. That’s if it was 4° in September at home! And I got a reply for my job application just after booking my
Intercity bus back to Picton, and I knew I wouldn’t get a refund if I didn’t
show up for the bus and would have had to pay for another one back. That was my
priority, as the reply said I should visit them to see whether they have a job
for me or not.
I got my bus back to Picton, and had a very nice afternoon
and evening there, spending some time in a café eating scones, just walking
around and enjoying the atmosphere of the city.
Irish is a thouroughbred, I'm not sure if he's also an OTTB, former race horse..
Life between the ears <3
