Hawke's Bay Farmers Market

Today's been a really great day! I've been working again since May 16, and since then had serious back pain for a while and then got sick last week not only with a cough but of course a cold aswell.

I haven't done a lot in the last weeks as the job is very exhausting and time consuming and health stuff prevented me from activities too.

Today I met my chilenian friend Marlene to cycle to the Hawke's Bay Farmers market in Hastings. We started a little later than planned because I simply couldn't unlock my bike's lock -after it probably rained into it- and it took a while until a friend from the hostel borrowed me his.

The market was great!! In the beginning we met some people from work and there was so much things to buy.

I couldn't pass the honey that was incredibly cheap for being organic and honey, a rather expensive luxury in New Zealand.

There were heaps of booths selling vegetables
And also some sausages and meat, even though I'm being veggie right now. No meat for me😅
A lady sold flower bouquets and we had a very nice talk, about flowers, my photography, my accent (Kiwis love the accent guessing game lol ), how long we are in New Zealand for and much more😁
I always enjoy how friendly most Kiwis are!!
More vegetables...
There was a booth selling european style bread from a shop I always wanted to go to. I will never get over how toast is being sold as 'bread' here.
Then we surprisingly met Marlene's previous boss for whom she worked during summer/autumn (approx. February/March). He generously gave us some of his orange juice.

When the market already started closing down we quickly decided to buy a sandwich and waffles for lunch. Unfortunately they just ran out of vegatarian sandwiches, so we both had some delicious waffles. Yummy! The dough wasn't very sweet but so tasty and topped with cream, maple syrup and blueberries.
